Reasons to support the Richmond BC Pickleball Association (RBCPA):
OUTDOOR COURTS – RBCPA was responsible in 2019 in working with the city of Richmond to get approval for both the Hugh Boyd and South Arm courts which were subsequently built in 2020. Current RBCPA Board is working closely with city councillors and staff to build more courts in the community which we hope to see in 2025. Also advocating for a covered multi-sport facility which will include pickleball courts; through membership and tournament fees, we have raised $30,000 to contribute to future court expansion.
COURT CLEANING EQUIPMENT – RBCPA purchases all the commercial squeegees, rollers, brooms and leaf blowers that are in the storage sheds at both Hugh Boyd and South Arm courts; courts can be playable even after poor weather.
OTHER COURT-RELATED ITEMS – RBCPA has taken on the responsibility of providing all pickleball court related items such as paddle racks, benches, windsocks, ball barriers, net straps, first aid kits, tents and portable nets. Note: $2,500 is budgeted each year by the RBCPA for court-cleaning equipment and other court-related items.
MEMBER ONLY TOURNAMENT – RBCPA hosts a Charity and Fundraising tournament series in May and June which is available to Members ONLY.
GROUP PLAY SESSIONS – The city has provided RBCPA a number of courts on select days/times at both Hugh Boyd Park and South Arm Park locations allowing our members to play with each other. Sessions provide an engaging environment allowing members to both play and to socialize with others; we have volunteers who act as Court Ambassadors to support the group play sessions.
